Yes, we are happy to accept new patients.
Our office is located at 315 Brant Avenue in Brantford, Ontario, across the street from the W. Ross McDonald school for the Blind.
Our office is conveniently open five days a week, Monday to Friday. On Monday we are open from 9-5, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9-6 and on Friday from 9-2.
We are a family-oriented practice. We take pride in knowing our patients, not only from a dental perspective but also on a personal level. Only small-sized practices can provide the level of “family” feel and experience that we strive to achieve. Because of these philosophies, we have one dentist and two dental hygienists.
Even though she looks like fresh out of dental school, Dr. Langwinska has been practicing for 20 years. She is a very thorough, precise, and caring practitioner.
It is of utmost importance to protect our patients and ourselves from cross-contamination. It is mandatory in our office that all providers change gloves, masks and special plastic blue barriers after every patient. Sometimes, when necessary, gloves are even changed once or twice during the appointment, especially when the provider leaves the room, or takes x-rays. A patient’s safety and well-being to us is absolutely paramount.
Of course, there is absolutely no other way of making sure that our patients and employees are safe. Any instrument that comes in contact with the oral cavity is sterilized. Our office has a state of the art, hands-free sterilization center, which provides instrument process of being soiled to sterilized with no chance for cross-contamination. Our sterilizers are monitored on a daily basis by a combined use of monitoring strips and biological indicators, using our in office “BI lab” to produce reliable assessment of continued efficacy of our processes.
No, absolutely not. We are not charging anything to have your file transferred to our office, neither should the office you are transferring from. You, the patient, are the owner of your dental records and they should be released without any fees.
As a new patient you will have a thorough exam of your soft and hard tissue, cancer screening, any necessary x-rays taken, plus scaling and polishing of your teeth. Doctor will discuss your case, as every patient has their custom treatment plan prepared. As each case is different, sometimes it is very hard to say exactly how much the exam will cost. The range can be quite broad and depends on so many factors, that it is quite difficult to establish an exact figure.
Our office always use the most current fee guide as recommended by the Ontario Dental Association.
We make every effort to deal directly with most insurance plans. In 99% of cases the payment is issued to our office directly, so yes, we do take assignment. There are some plans, however, that don’t allow for such an arrangement and payment is sent to the patient, or even deposited directly to their bank account. In such cases, patients elect to make a payment at the time of the visit. Our office, regardless of insurance policy, processes all the claims on behalf of the patient.
At certain points there is a necessity to come and see your hygienist a little more often than you would have in the past. If periodontal disease (gum problems), certain medical conditions, teeth alignment or orthodontic treatment are being experienced by the patient, it is of the utmost importance to keep bacterial growth under control. Only more frequent professional scaling appointments can help achieve this.
Yes, it is great that you remember about maintaining proper oral hygiene. Unfortuntely, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to oral hygiene, especially when gum disease starts showing first symptoms. There is probably a lot of tartar below the gumline, that can only be seen by using x-rays and that can only be removed at the dental office. There is no other known, other than physical, way of removing hard, bacteria infested deposits under your gums.
It is a standard of practice that radiographs are taken on at least an annual basis. They are essential to providing a proper diagnosis, as all some issues are not detectable by using other means, especially naked eye. In addition, it is illegal in the Province of Ontario to provide treatment without proper radiographic evaluation. Our office has the newest, most technologically advanced digital radiography system in place. Exposure to radiation is minimal, in fact, almost negligible. For example, a full mouth series of radiographs containing 18 exposures is equivalent to 2 hours of airline flight. One CT Scan in the hospital is equivalent to 12,200 digital X-rays taken at our office. Our system is extremely safe.
A child’s dental care really starts with his or her mother’s healthy pregnancy, because baby teeth begin to form before birth. If you are pregnant, make sure to eat a balanced, nutritious diet and get an adequate amount of vitamins and minerals. It’s important for pregnant women to have a complete dental exam and have any cavities or gum disease treated, as it has been clinically proven that your oral health can have large effects on your overall health. It is a great practice to get your baby used to proper oral hygiene from an early age. Be sure your child sees us by his or her first birthday or 6 months after the first primary teeth appear, whichever comes first. After your first visit, schedule regular visits every 6 months, or as often as Dr. Langwinska recommends. It is recommended that your child’s dental care start at 12 months of age. Babies with dental problems caused by injury, disease, or a developmental problem should be seen by us right away.
Majority of restorations (fillings) placed at our office are composite (white). They account for 99.9% of cases. There are some rare situations that, at a discretion of a doctor with prior consultation with a patient, an amalgan (silver) restoration is placed. This rare situation is usually when the amalgam restoration proves to be optimal, given pre-conditions existing within the oral cavity.

We understand and appreciate the need for orthodontic treatment, but at the same time we believe that you can only specialize and provide superb service in a select amount of procedures. We refer our orthodontic cases to speciality offices. There are currently three licensed specialists in the city of Brantford.
Once you have established a good credit standing with us, we can provide you with a payment plan that will be discussed prior to your treatment. It is usually interest-free and a very convenient way of paying for your dental treatment.
We do understand that sometimes unforeseen circumstances occur, as this is a normal course of life. If these “unforseen” events take a rather “habitual” turn then we may assess a fee. We kindly ask that, if for any reason you cannot keep your scheduled appointment, you provide us at least 2 business days’ notice, so another patient, sometimes waiting in pain, can utilize that slot. Remember, next time you may be the patient in pain and no appointment may be readily available, just because somebody “forgot” to give us proper notice.
